Kent Watson (BSc, MSc), is a certified HeartMath Trainer with 35 years of university teaching experience. Over his tenure, he witnessed the stress which the academic system puts on students and faculty; while also seeing stress-levels sky-rocket in our society in general. After attending a one-day HeartMath workshop - a program which offers science-based stress reduction techniques that have been developed over twenty-five years - Kent saw the potential for reducing stress and anxiety in students and decided to take his HeartMath training, which he completed in 2015.
HeartMath is used in many fields including law enforcement, the medical profession, business, fire fighters, schools, athletes, universities, treatment of PTSD and ADHS patients, to name a few. As a graduate of the HeartMath Training Centre, Kent has discovered effective tools to enhance stress reduction, not only in the class room, but in other environments as well. Kent's training has developed a deeper interest in how stress affects the body and how it leads to illness, and through his research, reading and personal experience, has incorporated a wide-range of comprehensive health related information and practices into his training sessions.
The skills Kent has learned through his training have allowed him to enjoy less stress and a more joyful and happier life and it has become his goal to pass along his knowledge to reduce the stress of students in the classroom and all those he encounters in life. Kent has delivered training in Kamloops BC to: Ask Wellness, Thompson Rivers University, Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, Interior Wellness Festivals, and through the Happyness Center. Kent has published three articles on HeartMath in the Interior Wellness Magazine.
