With growing global concerns around COVID-19, our Happyness Center team takes your health and safety seriously. We feel it is of utmost importance to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our Happyness community and all of humanity.
As your business and shops are closed and you begin to work at home, future jobs are cancelled, you stay in isolation, or whatever your unique experience right now may be, remember that you’re held in this moment by a higher power. We must never forget the fact that we are being held and supported by something greater than ourselves; especially in moments when it seems the exact opposite is true.
Now is a time of great uncertainty for everyone. The future is unknown and that leads many of us to experience a great deal of stress, anxiety, worry and fear.
We must never forget the fact that we are being held and supported by something greater than ourselves; especially in moments when it seems the exact opposite is true.
So what can we do?
Firstly, can we try to let go of needing to have all the answers right now,
and of the pressure to solve the problems that arise in our mind? Can we do so instantly, all in this moment, while reading this very text? It may take some time, but we urge you to try.
Letting go will allow our emotions to come to the surface, and this they must. Our emotions must not be suffocated or pushed away - this only leads to more stress and anxiety for us. Instead, we must bring them forward and step into them, so that we can flush them out of our system.
Secondly, instead of feeding our mind with fear (of all that is unknown, of all of our worry etc.), perhaps we must contemplate on different questions (such as "why is this happening," "what will we do," "what will the future look like" etc.) In such an hour of crisis, instead, each one of us must ask:
"What can I do to be of service to my community?"
"What do I need to know right now to help me and my loved ones get through this?”
Perhaps these would be good questions for us to pay attention and allow the inner guidance to flow. Many of our elders and ancestors knew the importance of when to stop fighting and face the reality of the situation and we must follow in their footsteps.
If we can learn to relax our mind-body system enough, creative solutions to our problems will arise, worry and fear will dissipate and peace and joy will come.
Peace can arise and suffering will dissolve only when we learn to accept what is happening without resisting it mentally and emotionally.
How can we do this?
The two important tools that can come to help at this time are Acceptance and Surrender.
Acceptance doesn’t mean liking the current situation or having complacency. Rather, it is letting the thoughts of fear and insecurity flush out of our system so that we can relax just enough to sigh...with a question: "how can I turn this situation into a positive one?"
Surrender is allowing the creativity in the right brain to flow. It is the ability to identify and enhance the creative potential solution to arise in the moment of crisis. Surrender cannot come until acceptance has been practiced.
Peace can arise and suffering will dissolve only when we learn to accept what is happening without resisting it mentally and emotionally. We must all work/act and contribute to be part of the solution. To deny it or spend so much energy resisting or fighting it is futile and only creates more static energy and confusion inside our mind and body.
Be gentle with your mind and your thoughts. Thoughts becomes real things. Take care of these next few days. We will pass through this as well.
