Dear valued patrons, students and participants:
With the recent changes in the COVID situation and the gradual re-opening of B.C., we are very happy to announce that we will be re-opening our Center doors as of June 1st, in order to serve you in person once again. We will slowly ease back to our schedules with limited personal offerings and with guidelines to keep all of us safe as we move into phase two of COVID-19. Please note that more information on the services available and guidelines around them will be sent out shortly. While we work through the process of re-establishing our services, we will be continuing with a number of our core services that we were able to provide throughout our closure due to COVID, including: Therapeutic Yoga Classes, Monthly Meditations and SMART Recovery Meetings. We are hoping to conduct some of our most well attended offerings outdoors in a park setting, and some of our smaller programs in our Center, and will ensure to communicate with you when and where all of our offerings will be taking place. In the meantime, as we re-open, please note the following guidelines and program changes. For those of you who will be coming to our Center, please note the following general guidelines as we work to keep everyone safe:
YOGA CLASSES For those participating in yoga classes, please note the following guidelines and changes:
SMART RECOVERY MEETINGS Smart Recovery Meetings will take place at the Center on Tuesdays at 5PM with a limit of 8 participants. We will no longer offer tea, coffee or water, so please bring your own should you desire it. Please note that no food is permitted on the facility for the time being. General Recommended Guidelines: If you are sitting in a well ventilated space, with few people, the risk is low. Social distancing rules are really to protect you with brief exposures or outdoor exposures. In these situations there is not enough time to achieve the infectious viral load when you are standing 6 feet apart or where wind and the infinite outdoor space for viral dilution reduces viral load. The effects of sunlight, heat, and humidity on viral survival, all serve to minimize the risk to everyone when outside. Thank you very much for your understanding and compliance as well as for your continued support. We look forward to seeing many of you soon and offering you our full range of services once again. In your highest service, the staff of The Happyness Center: Jo, Madhu Sai, Edith, Yvette, Michelle

Now that B.C. is starting to re-open, and pandemic policies are being adapted once again, do you find yourself wondering how quickly you can get back to “normal”? The way you lived before COVID? Many are in that same place – you are not alone.
But it is important for us to pause and to think – what was our previous normal? Was it judgmental, justifying, and condemning? What can our new normal be now? Did we learn and grow during the pandemic? Were we able to pause, reflect and choose new ways? In truth, we should not go back to our previous normal. We have been given the chance to improve. To re-enter society in a new way. To be aware of our ever-flowing thoughts, feelings, and action that we experience every day and to act accordingly, rather than acting out of habit. We know sometimes it seems like more work to be aware, watch, pause, and bring attention to everything we do, see, or feel. And maybe we don’t event know how to. Maybe we don’t believe we have the ability to experience our senses without any attachment to our thoughts and feelings. Or we don’t realize that our actions are superficial responses of our mind. We identify ourselves with the pleasure and pain of the mind, not knowing that life can be different. In fact, we resist the opportunity to see that life can be different if we stop resisting change – which we do unconsciously whenever we feel as though something is being pulled out from under us and changing without our consent. In truth, we are living in mental pandemic state and have been for a long time; we simply don’t realize it. Our minds are so isolated that we can’t be open enough to see the magnanimity in change. The beauty in it. And we block our creativity with repetition and continuing to get back to the same old patterns. We fail to understand that there is a Higher Power guiding us to a higher level of consciousness where we can see, hear, smell, taste and touch things in a different way. When we are connected inwardly in a profound manner, we feel secure all the time and embrace the inevitable change to awaken to the reality of things. We will understand how to welcome change and connect deeper to our higher presence to feel more secure. So, the question is what do you want to put back into your life? If you can do the work of answering this question and of putting in the effort day by day to learn to be aware and attentive to everything that we do, see and feel in order to make conscious decisions about how you want to act on it, then you enter a brand new world – a new level of consciousness. And suddenly you will realize that there is creativity, beautiful new beginnings, a profound sense of freedom, and true inner peace in this self-awareness. We invite you to join us for our Monthly Meditation on Sunday May 31st via Zoom as we explore and discuss about building self-awareness through the gift of working with the divine presence, rather than against it. At the Happyness center our main aim is to help you develop mindfulness and deeper awareness of your inner self. We learn to see ourselves in silent observation and enquiry rather than act from the noisy activity outside. We all lead busy lives, and meditation can help us relax and renew. We will share, learn, and practice together. Group meditations has many advantages that can reinforce our desires of daily practice that inspires us and others. |
