Embracing What Is

Desire is natural. While our desires take different forms and levels of intensity, we all have them.

In and of itself, desire is good. Desire can challenge us to go out of our comfort zone to achieve a goal or dream that others may not believe possible. It may give us the courage we need to speak to a stranger who becomes dear to us or encourage us to act in a way that helps us become a better version of our self.

But when we the desire becomes a craving or obsession; it controls our lives and we become restless. When there is comparison attached to the desire or when a desire is born of fear or jealousy, it’ll make us feel insecure and mentally weak.

When we take the time to really look into what we crave, we maybe notice that our craving is not coming from a positive place of bettering our self, but rather it has been born of fear and discomfort. Not knowing what to do with the discomfort, we run away from the present moment of “what is”.  We are lost and search for something or someone who can make us feel whole or complete.

Not knowing how to face the truth that craving is the cause of our misery, we crave to be identified with someone or something (a significant other, money, fame, material possessions etc.) so that we do not feel awful to see and face the actual thoughts and feelings of craving that are bothering us with inadequacy, loneliness, fear and shame.

When we practice seeing and facing the craving or the “what is” without condemning, judging, escaping and turning away, we have the opportunity to understand our cravings and learn that we are perfect the way that we are and that there is nothing to change about ourselves. We must come to accept “what is” within our self in order to move through this life with satisfaction and true joy.

We invite you to join us as we gather to practice seeing and accepting "what is" in our individual lives, Sunday July 28th at 10:30AM for our Monthly Meditation. Get all the details for the event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/441162916723837/
